Location

 

Robe is situated in the South East of South Australia, in the Limestone Coast District.

Is it appoximately half way between Adelaide and Melbourne, being slightly closer to Adelaide, located directly along the coastline.

 

FROM ADELAIDE

By Car

-Via the Freeway/Murray Bridge
340 kms Approximately 3.5 hours, non-stop
This is the most direct route. Take the South Eastern Freeway through the Adelaide Hills, enjoy the view from the bridge over the mighty River Murray and turn right at Tailem Bend to join the Princes Highway to Meningie.

-Via the Fleurieu Peninsula
342 kms Approximately 4 hours, non-stop
Take the South Eastern Freeway and turn off at Callington/Strathalbyn turnoff, cross over the freeway towards Strathalbyn and travel through Langhorne Creek, onto the car ferry at Wellington which operates all day every day. This will join you with the Princes Highway where you travel onto Meningie.

From Meningie, travel along the magestical Coorong to Salt Creek. Carry on towards Kingston where you will find Larry the Lobster. Head straight for another 45 kms and you will encounter your destination, Robe.

 

By Bus

Premier Stateliner coaches travel through Robe twice daily, between Adelaide and Mount Gambier.

 

By Air

REX Regional Express Airline fly out of Melbourne and Adelaide approximately two flights per day to Mount Gambier.

 

FROM MELBOURNE

By Car

-Via the Great Ocean Road
550 kms 6.0 hours, non-stop
Travel on the M1 Freeway to Geelong and head towards the twelve Apostles and Warrnambool. Onto Port Fairy, Portland and Mount Gambier, you will soon reach Robe, via the Highway turnoff or through Beachport.

-Via the Western District
538 kms 5.5 hours, non-stop
This is the most direct route, and is quite achievable in one day. After heading out of Melbourne to Geelong, take the road to Mortlake and travel on through to Hamilton, Casterton and Penola.

-Via the Grampians
585 kms 6.5 hours, non-stop
From Melbourne, head towards Ballarat and pass through Ararat, Stawell and Halls Gap. Drive through Dunkeld and up to Naracoorte and over to Robe.

 

By Bus

V-LINE runs several services to Mount Gambier. Premier Stateliner Coaches operate from Mount Gambier to Robe.

 

By Air

REX Regional Express Airline fly out of Melbourne approximately one-two flights per day to Mount Gambier.
